Vertical Kneading Machine

Vertical kneading machine is a mixing device used for efficiently mixing of chemical liquids. This device is developed for an engineering and consultancy company named “Etik Tasarım” to be used in Tübitak SAGE. Vertical kneading machine has a sealed vacuum chamber which can be heated electrically for mixing chemical liquids like rocket fuel. The liquid is put into the chamber, which is then hydraulicaly closed and vacuum is applied. There exists two blades for mixing operation. The first one is at the center of the chamber and rotates around axial center. The second blade both rotates around itself and the first blade. They have special cross sectional profile to obtain high mixing efficiency. A computer software was developed by Polimak Ltd. for designing the blade cross sections. The distance between the blades continously varies during rotation from 0.5 mm to 10 mm. A planetary gear system is used for syncronizing the blade motions. All of the components were designed and manufactured for a long and reliable service life. User safety is one of the most important factor in mechanical design, because of the existence of explosion risk of chemicals.

Anti Aricraft Gun Training System

Mechanical systems of an Anti aircraft gun training system was developed for an army force in TURKEY. The anti aircraft gun training system has an aircraft representation on a sensor table. A beam emmiter is mounted on a gun used by a trainee. When the trigger is pulled and gun points towards the sensor table, the sensors detect the beam. If beam hits the aircraft representation, an indicator warns the user. The sensor table moves along an odd shaped way constructed by a steel hollow  pipe. The motion of the table is achieved by a frequency controlled electrical motor. Speed and direction of the table is controlled by another user from a control panel.

The sensor table and beam emmitter components of the system were manufactured by Aselsan which is one of the leader companies in Turkish defence industry. The motion control system and its mechanical components were designed, manufactured and constructed by Polimak Ltd.  

 

Tooth Prosthesis Press 

Tooth prosthesis press is designed and manufactured for a company which supplies dental products to dental clinics and laboratories. The press simply heats the tooth moulds by applying pressure and cools them also by applying pressure. It can process 6 moulds at the same time. In traditional production, the worker does these jobs one by one for each mould with a manual heating press and cooling press by using a holding rod. Because of the human factor, there exists user safety risk. More than that, production parameters like pressure, temperature and time control  are controlled manually which leads to quality failures. By using the tooth prosthesis press; user safety, product quality and production rates are increased significantly.  A microcontroller is used to control mechanical motions, production parameters (temperature, pressure, time control etc.) and user safety mechanisms which makes it a reliable production system.

 In the development process of the press, 3 prototypes were manufactured. One of these prototypes was a subject of a M.Sc. thesis. (Pullu M., “Design and Production of a Tooth Prosthesis Press”, Gazi University Institute of Science and Technology,1996).
